Our Vision for Academic Excellence

Our vision for academic excellence transforms the learning experience through an inquiry-based and learner-centered approach to education. SMA graduates will reach their full potential as purposeful and impactful leaders who are contributing global citizens.

SMA Prep

SMA Prep (grades 6 - 8) is guided by the teaching and learning framework of a whole school IB Middle Years Program (MYP) and has been an authorized IB World School since 2017. The MYP is not a curriculum. Instead it is a framework built upon best practice and current research in understanding how young people learn and the importance of developing within all learners the skills, character and interdisciplinary knowledge required to become a globalized and effective citizen in our modern world. Find out more here.

SMA High

SMA High has created an initmate learning community in downtown Sarasota offering both college and career, academic pathways that encourage young people to take ownership of their learning now to pursue their passions and positively impact their community. Find out more here.

How could your school facilitate an experiential STEM activity and play a role in cutting edge research? Operation Outbreak or “O2” will put students at the forefront of containing an infectious disease outbreak and simultaneously aid researchers in determining how well we respond to a real-life pandemic. Dr Todd Brown led a breakout session at the 2019 IB Global Conference in New Orleans and he invited schools around the world to join him in this incredible project. To learn how to run a simulation at your school or support the project, please contact the O2 team.
