SMA is not a boarding school. Although we have as our foundation a military structure and our high school is an all school JROTC program, we are not what many perceive as a "military school". SMA takes a modern approach in understanding the power of the character and skill building focus found in both the military and a 21st century education.

This is the mandatory cadet uniform worn Monday through Thursday and optional on Fridays.
For all new incoming cadets waiting for their Army issued Class B uniforms, the mandatory SMA polo uniform is to be worn Monday through Friday. Once the Class B uniform is issued, the SMA polo uniform is optional attire for Fridays.
For both campuses:
The SMA polo uniform, polo shirt and shorts or pants, is optional Friday attire.
The mandatory gym or "PT" (physical training) uniform is the required shorts and tee-shirt.

SMA buses cadets from all over Sarasato County and North Port including pocket pick-up stops. You may choose any of those stops to send your cadet to school. We also bus through Manattee County for a fee of $600 per year.
Questions regarding transportation may be directed to our Route Supervisor, SMA-MAJ Beth Harris. Please note that buses 1331, 1600, 1730, 1731, and 1800 are SMA buses. You will need to use the Remind app to remain updated on the status of your child's bus. A code will be provided by the SMA bus driver at the beginning of the 2020-21 school year. All other buses are operated by the Sarasota County Transportation Department. If your child rides a district bus and you have questions regarding transportation, you may call 941-486-2141.
Before care is offered on at the SMA Prep Campus (grades 6 - 8). This is a safe and affordable option for parents to drop off their children before school each day. Our goal is to support families who need options earlier than the regular 8:40 AM drop-off start time by providing a learning environment at school for their children to complete homework or engage in other activities as early as 7 AM. Breakfast is available (for purchase or through the free/reduced program) at 8:30 AM. Hours: 7 – 8:40 AM, Monday through Friday, excluding school holidays and days off. Drop-off is at the school cafeteria and requires an adult sign-in. Find more details here.
SMA Prep has partnered with The Boys and Girls Club of Sarasota to provide after-school care through the Lee Wetherington Club location at 3100 Fruitville Rd. Transportation is provided by SMA Prep for students with confirmed registration in the program. Signing up for this program is done directly with the Boys and Girls Club but transportation spaced are limited. Transportation sign-up to the Boys and Girls Club will be handled during orientation prior to the start of school.
