The current spikes in COVID-19 cases in our community have begun to impact our lives once again. As many educational institutions around the country at both the secondary and post-secondary levels are considering reopening, reassessing institutional plans, developing new options for educating students, refocusing commitments, reviewing budgets, and determining how best to navigate in a world that has changed so significantly, SMA is diligently proceeding with plans for the 2020-2021 school year. None of us can know with certainty how long the current conditions will last; what we do know is that its impact will continue to exert influence on our planning for the upcoming academic year.
Fortunately, SMA leadership and faculty are ready to respond. We acted quickly early on in this crisis by creating and implementing hybrid instructional models as students adapted to online learning. Since that day in March, our mission has not been deterred despite the obstacles posed by COVID-19 protocols—nor have our expectations for the start of a new academic year been surrendered. However, we remain vigilant and attentive to the direction from federal, state and local authorities so that our plans adhere to any laws, regulations or guidelines set forth by them. SMA is ready for any shift in the educational environment of our cadets.
It is in this environment that SMA High School and Prep administration have stepped forward in preparation for the 2020-2021 school year—from formulating deep cleaning and social-distancing protocols that will protect our students, teachers and staff members to crafting a teaching framework that will transition seamlessly when the need arises.
Welcoming new realities and adapting to them at a more rapid pace than ever before is our course of action at SMA. We have every confidence in our ability to rise to these challenges, and with you, by our side, we surely will succeed.
Thank you for the trust you place in our mission, and for your support of the SMA learning experience.
