Meet the Counselor

Prep Counseling

The Prep Campus Counseling Office aims to assist all of our cadets and their families through the sixth, seventh and eighth grades of middle school. Prep counseling helps cadets and their families best select the right class choices, consider social activities, and offer help in navigating some of the occasional challenges that arise in these sensitive tween years.

Coffee with the Counselor provides an informal, group opportunity to hear from the Prep counselors and learn about different support for middle school families.

To learn more about dates for the Coffee with the Counselor  meetings or to make an appointment with the counselor, please call the Prep's counselors at 941. 877. 7737, ext. 3523 or ext. 3524.

SMA High Counseling

SMA High counseling is there for our cadets for four full years of advising and guidance.  Course selection, program options, and college planning are all part of the SMA counseling service.  It is advisable for each cadet to visit with his or her counselor at least twice per year to make sure that courses, grades, testing, and graduation preparation are on schedule.  Parents and guardians are encouraged to make an advising appointment with their cadet.

College financial aid, including available scholarships and grants, can make all the difference in attending or not attending college.  Take time to find out what is available and the eligibility requirements for all types of financial aid.

To make an appointment with your cadet's SMA High counselor, please call the Counseling department at 941. 926. 1700 ext. 221.
