SMA fosters a well-rounded educational approach and encourages ALL cadets to participate in one or more extracurricular activities. Mind and body development provides a balanced, wholistic student. Social skills, fitness, sportsmanship, and team work are important life skills to learn. The Prep middle school campus houses the Academy's beautiful regulation-sized gymnasium where both the Prep and high school teams play competitive games.
The Prep athletic department provides cadets with the option of playing competitive team sports or joining a club team sport. Fall teams include flag football and girls' volleyball. Winter season teams include boys' and girls' basketball, cross-country running, and wrestling. Spring teams include boys' and girls' soccer and the golf team plays in late spring. Besides these team sports, Prep offers many activities and clubs including basketball, flag football, Interact, running club, drill team, drum line, soccer, self-defense tactics, Junior Raiders, volleyball, ultimate frisbee, lacrosse, and cyber patriots.
SMA High campus offers Florida High School Athletic Association team sports (FHSAA). Fall sports include boys' and girls' golf, cross-country and girls' volleyball. Winter teams are boys' and girls' soccer, basketball, both junior varsity and varsity, and wrestling. The spring teams are boys' and girls' lacrosse.
